New Bookmarks In The Shop!

It's a beautiful sunny day today so I went out to take some pictures of the new bookmarks I've been working on. They are prints made from some of my watercolour paintings, and they turned out really nice! I was really happy about that.I didn't want them to be boring ol' printed bookmarks, so I got creative and drew out some embellishments on colourful cardstock to match the prints. They are then cut out, layered with other coordinating colours and tied with thin black ribbon to the bookmarks. The ribbons can be facing up or down, and the little embellishments can sit outside of your book for extra awesome-ness :)They are protected with a laminate casing so that you won't damage the prints in case of a tea spill (to which I am prone). If you're looking for a thoughtful and creative gift for a fellow book lover, these will definitely do the trick. You'll find them in my Etsy shop.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I'm in a TTT Treasury!

I made it into a treasury called, "T T T - My new discovery!" and guess who's featured? It's Odie! Awww... he made it. He's a winner! What a wonderful thing.

Thank you so much to Agape Bridal for featuring me. That's super awesome.

Ninja Bats and Golden Roses

I finished up some new bookmarks. I was getting tired of the smaller, rectangular sizes so these ones are quite bit larger and more unique.

I made a little stuffed ninja bat out of felt for the top of one, a handsewn ribbon rose for the other, and a kite tail with red ribbons for the last. I really like how they turned out.

Ninja bats, Golden Rose, and Felt Owls, all in the shop.

Mrs. McRooney's Mice Problem

Mrs. McRooney has a mice problem.

They're in her garden, in the pantry, in the cupboards, and in the living room. They're everywhere! But she doesn't mind. Mrs. McRooney loves the little mice.

Her favourite is Odie, a fat mouse that helps her take care of the much more pressing spider problem. Mrs. McRooney hates spiders, don't you?

These new bookmarks are all in the store.

Pumpkin Bookmark

Can you see a running theme?

Here's a new bookmark I'm working on. As you can see, I'm a bit more comfortable painting with Photoshop than with watercolour, but I do love the simplicity of painting with water and little circles of powder. I'll be back to that soon. In the meanwhile, it's Photoshop all the way!

I like the way this has an almost stained glass feel to it. It's meant to be printed out and cut out around the picture with a black rim remaining, but it does look nice with a black background too, n'est pas?

Drawing at Night

I felt the urge to draw last night and whipped up some new bookmarks. I had great fun designing some brown felt owls for my subjects in addition to some mushrooms, birds, and gnome cottages.

I settled down for some painting today and coloured them up.

I am really enjoying coming up with each design, and it feels good to practice painting. There are still some hit and misses with it (one of the mushroom ones didn't turn out the way I wanted it to), but I am very happy with some of the other ones. It seems that less is more, when it comes to watercolour painting.

I am going to keep practicing. Next up are some larger bookmarks.

Shopping Weekend

I had a wonderful day out shopping with V. today. It was sunny out, I wore my comfy heels, and I found everything that I was looking for (and more!). Splendiferous! My favourite purchase was a cute little wristlet purse that I snapped up in a jiffy, and I acquired a tidy new collection of pretty make-up colours. I wish I was more adventurous and I could try painting up my eyes like those runway models. They look out of this world with their crazy bright colours and designs, but it looks so neat! Maybe one halloween, I'll pretend it's part of my costume.

I also got my first look at dresses and bags designed by Betsey Johnson. Oooh, V. had a hard time coaxing me out of that store purchase-free. There were so many pretty dresses and funky bags. I was so tempted!

I was happy to spot a little baby girl sporting a felt ice-cream hair clip that I swear I've seen on Etsy before.

I finally had time today to upload another bookmark to my shop. This one features a felt bird tree, because I love felt birds and I think that a whole tree full of them would be very wonderful indeed!

Fat Grub Bookmark No.2

It's been super busy at work lately with long 11-hour days. I'm tired, but it feels good to be busy too. I'm also loving the sunny weather.

I had a little extra time last night, so finished up a new Fat Grub bookmark.

It is now up in the shop.
