Zombie Weekend

After a bruising week five, I was ready to take a break - a zombie break that is! I woke up, sat myself down with pencil crayons and paper ready, and drew to my heart's content. The result is five lovely jointed paper zombies. Oh how I love zombies :)

The first one was truly hideous. His name is Zombie Ted. He was formerly a farmer, but now he's a much-decomposed zombie. All brains and no carrots.
Next came lovely Zombie Margaret. I guess I was grossed out by Zombie Ted, so I opted for a prettier lady zombie. She's a little slow and wanders a lot. On her travels through the woods, she's known to emerge with a cluster of flowers in hand. Next came Zombie Theo. He's a laid back, easy going guy that loves cool skull T-shirts. He also loves slurpees... he's holding one now! Check out those nice white sneakers too. What a nice dude.

On a pretty gal spree, I made Zombie Lillian. She's wearing a thick caramel coloured sweater, white pants, and camel heels. On her tussle with the original zombie, she got pretty covered in grass from her lawn. Not wanting to be caught dead (literally) with her hair in a mess, she grabbed her sexy red hair dryer to take on her brain-hunting adventures.

The last is small, red-haired (my favourite!) and a little on the goth side. She's got a black T-shirt, a purple skirt, and pink and purple leggings. She's a cheerful gal and 100% awesome. Don't judge her by her missing arm, she makes up for it with extra love - extra love for your brain, that is!

My sis is having a bake sale at a local baked goods fair so I'll probably take these there to see if anyone would like to buy them. I figure they'd make good Halloween decorations/presents!

Zombie Thelma Is Pissed Off

Thelma woke up one day to discover that she was lying in a back alley AND SOMEONE HAD EATEN HER ARM OFF! They had also taken a bite out of her other arm, and eaten the toes off of one of her feet. Thelma is now one of the crankiest zombies around. She plans to track down the zombie that did this to her and to exact sweet revenge. At very least, she plans to smack them around with her stump of an arm.

When Thelma isn't planning her gory revenge, she likes to hang out with her boyfriend Hank. She thinks he's 'the one', but she hasn't told him this yet.

Zombie Thelma is now available in the store as an original. Just let me know if you would prefer a print version.

Zombie Hank Likes Movies And Popcorn

Hank loves movies. He's a regular couch-potato that is perfectly content munching on theatre-style popcorn while watching re-runs of sci-fi flicks. That is, he's perfectly normal except that he's dead (a zombie to be more exact)... and he likes brains with his popcorn - the more the merrier.

The Making Of A Zombie - Step by Step

In addition to spending quality time with family and friends this holiday season, I've been making ZOMBIES. Oh yes, that is one of my favourite new Christmas things to do, hehehe!

Here's how to make one if you fancy making some of your own.

You will need:

1. cardstock
2. pencil crayons
3. mini brads
4. pin
5. flat eraser or styrofoam block
6. sharpie marker
7. ink pens

First, get a nice, Zombie-coloured piece of cardstock. Draw all the main shapes with the sharpie marker and use the thinner markers to draw in smaller details. You will need a main body attached to the head, 2 upper arms, and 2 lower arms. If you have room on your paper, draw the legs now too. I didn't have any room so my zombie legs will come a little later.
Roughly cut out the general area where your drawing is. Don't cut right up to the edges until later.
Flip it over and add glue all over it evenly. I like to use the purple glue sticks so that I can see where glue has already been added.
Paste it on top of more cardstock. This makes the cardstock double the thickness so that your jointed zombie paper doll won't bend easily. For my earlier paper dolls, I left the thickness at one layer, but I found that they couldn't stand as well. Sometimes I leave the arms at one layer of thickness.
Now you can colour your zombie. Mine has a candy-corn coloured shirt :)
If you haven't drawn the legs yet, do that now. I placed the zombie body on the paper before I began drawing so that I would have it as a reference for size.
You need 2 thighs and 2 calves with feet. Don't forget to double the thickness of this cardstock paper too.
Once it is all coloured, you can cut out all the pieces. The thick sharpie border makes it easy to cut out because you don't have to be as exact.
Place the different parts onto an eraser or styrofoam block and poke holes for all the joints. The eraser block helps you keep the paper flat while you're poking the hole.
Here is Zombie Hank with all the holes made at the correct joint places.
Now take your mini brads and join all the limbs to the body and each other. Experiment to see whether it looks better to place arms and legs on top or underneath the body.
Ta da! Here's Zombie Hank all finished up. I even gave him a bucketful of popcorn! Zombie Hank says that the popcorn is good, but that it needs more brain.
Here he is with his girlfriend, the lovely Zombie Thelma. Don't they make a sweet couple? *snicker* They're off to the movies.

Goodbye, Zombie Dave

Today, Zombie Dave is off to terrorize a new home. "Sold!" he cackles now, and imagines all the fresh, tasty brains he can snack on. I hope the people that have adopted Zombie Dave own helmets! They'll want to keep those on - especially at night. He's a sneaky one, that Zombie Dave!Nervous Bot was packaged today too. He hasn't been sold yet, and that makes him nervous. He's standing in his packaging, looking amazingly like he needs to pee... hehehe! Poor guy! I hope someone adopts him soon so he can stop looking so fidgety. But, then again, who am I kidding? He's Nervous Bot! Nothing will make him less nervous!

You can try, though. I've heard he has a soft spot for lemon squares (with extra icing sugar!) and hot tea. He's apparently a sucker for hot biscuits too.

This December and New Years, all purchases will come with a free surprise gift. It's my Christmas present to you. The presents are different for everyone, but they're all good :)

Zombie Dave Wants To Eat Your Brain

Zombie Dave is just a regular guy... except he's dead. And he likes to hang out at night over alleyways (and shelves) to attack the unprotected brain or two. I'd wear a helmet if I was you.

As you can see, I got tired of making cute today and switched over to the undead. It might have something to do with watching Zombie Land.
